If you love showing up as your best self, don’t want turning 50 to be the end of living life to the full, and you are the kind of queen that fixes other queens’ crowns, you’ll feel right at home here.
Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on. Serena Williams
Women are brilliant at sharing, inspiring and supporting each other, which is probably why we live longer, grow emotionally stronger as we age and value friendships like gold dust.
Sharing is empowering and it is with this inspiration that Flawsome & Fifty was born. I wanted to create a shared platform to share, learn, educate, inspire, understand, and empower self-growth, self-fulfillment and pure bliss as we mature into the second half of our beautiful precious life. And, have some fun along the way too!
Everyone has a unique story to tell, and our stories are what help shape us into who and what we are. Our life stories teach us so much about ourselves, the world, and those around us. They are not always pretty and oftentimes painful however, they hold valuable lessons that when shared can make a difference to others.
So, Who’s Behind Flawsome & Fifty?
I am Paula Drakes-Cohen. Born in Scunthorpe, England, I currently reside in Israel. The journey from the UK to Israel has been a storybook of adventures, some out of this world, and others I’d rather forget but none I would change!
I have been fortunate enough to travel around the world living, working, and visiting far-flung shores and experiencing a variety of cultures, religions, and traditions. It’s been the most incredibly interesting, humbling, and inspiring time of my life.
Fast forward a few years living in the Holy-land, at age 50, I found myself divorced, mummy to 4 (incredible) children, working full-time battling to keep my head above water financially in a country where I don’t speak the language (still!!) and miles away from my family. Mostly, I felt exhausted, overwhelmed, lost, hurt, and a tiny bit broken.
Luckily, my new reality kick-started a voyage of self-discovery toward authenticity, peace, joy, love and fulfillment. Initially, this involved retreating inwards to heal until I’d sat in the story long enough, ready to emerge and reconnect with the world. I am of course, like all of us, a work still in progress. It has not been easy, definitely not very pretty at times, and hard work. But who said life was easy?
Building My Tribe!
I have felt for a while that I would love to build a community (even if it was just virtual) of strong, spirited, like-minded women who think that turning fifty is not a license to be silenced or put on the shelf. In fact, it is quite the opposite. It is the most magical time when your confidence in knowing who you are and the strength garnered from hard life knocks means that you are a force of nature to be reckoned with. There is nothing wrong with doing it alone of course but I promise, doing it together can be so much more fun!
If you are in the second half of your life and are looking to flourish and grow, then I invite you to be part of this journey.
Stay strong, stay smiling, and stay happy.
Love, Paula
